Write a Requirements Document

Write a BRD for adding a loyalty programme to a retail POS system.

The Scenario

A mid-size South African retailer (40 stores) wants to add a loyalty programme to their existing POS system. Customers earn points on purchases and redeem them for discounts. The operations director has described the idea verbally — now it needs to be documented.

The Brief

Write a Business Requirements Document (BRD) that captures the business need, scope, functional requirements, non-functional requirements, and assumptions.

Deliverables

  • A BRD covering: business objectives, scope (in/out), at least 10 functional requirements, and 5 non-functional requirements
  • An assumptions and constraints section with at least 5 items
  • A RACI matrix for key stakeholders (Operations, IT, Marketing, Finance)

Submission Guidance

Requirements must be testable. "The system should be fast" is not a requirement. "The loyalty balance must display within 2 seconds of scanning the card" is.
