Customer Health Score Modeling for a B2B SaaS

Design a weighted customer health score model using usage metrics.

The Scenario

A Durban-based school administration software company, "EduPortal", tracks user actions. They want to flag high-risk schools before they churn. The database records logins, report cards generated, messages sent to parents, and invoices issued. You must build a predictive health scoring model.

The Brief

Develop a weighted scoring model that assigns a health score (0-100) to each school. Define the indicators of healthy usage, warning signs of low activity, and critical triggers for outreach.

Deliverables

  • A table of 5 health indicators with their definitions, formulas, and weights (totaling 100%)
  • A classification system defining Green (Healthy), Amber (At Risk), and Red (High Risk) scores
  • A playbook outline detailing automated triggers for the Customer Success team when an account drops to Amber or Red
  • A worked example calculating the score for a hypothetical healthy school and a struggling school

Submission Guidance

Ensure weights reflect actual value to the customer. For example, generating report cards is a higher-value task than simply logging in.
