Build a Dashboard Narrative

Design a 4-chart executive dashboard where every chart answers a specific stakeholder question.

The Scenario

A logistics company moves 50,000 parcels per day across South Africa. The COO wants a single dashboard she checks every Monday morning. She cares about: delivery speed, cost per parcel, regional bottlenecks, and customer complaints. Your job is to design the dashboard.

The Brief

Design a 4-chart executive dashboard. Each chart must answer one of the COO's four questions. You must justify every design decision: chart type, time range, comparison baseline, colour coding, and what you deliberately excluded.

Deliverables

  • A wireframe or detailed description of the 4-chart layout with the information hierarchy
  • For each chart: the exact metric, chart type, time range, and comparison baseline
  • Three deliberate design decisions (what you excluded, simplified, or highlighted) and why
  • One alert or threshold rule you would add to make the dashboard proactive rather than reactive

Submission Guidance

A good dashboard is not 4 random charts. It is a story that flows top-left to bottom-right. Show that your layout has a reading order.

Submit Your Work

Your submission is graded against the rubric on the right. If you pass, you get a public Badge URL you can share on LinkedIn. There is no draft save, so work offline first and paste your finished response here.
