Mobile-First Registration Redesign for a Local Retailer

Redesign a complex desktop-centric signup form into an elegant mobile-first flow.

The Scenario

A South African homeware boutique, "Karoo Living", has a desktop registration flow that requires ID number verification, physical address, and loyalty options. Mobile drop-offs are at 70% because typing on smartphones is frustrating and error-prone on their legacy web views.

The Brief

Redesign the registration process into a mobile-first, multi-step flow. Leverage mobile input design patterns (like native date pickers, autofocus, specific keyboard types, and address autocomplete).

Deliverables

  • A before-and-after flow map outlining the step reduction
  • Detailed wireframe descriptions or mockups for the redesigned mobile registration screen states (showing keyboard states, inline validations, and step indicators)
  • A list of 4 optimized input configurations (e.g. inputmode="numeric" for South African ID numbers) with rationale

Submission Guidance

Provide clear, step-by-step logic for the mobile form. Emphasize reduction of typing effort (e.g., using SA ID parsing to prefill birthday/gender).
