The Scenario
An e-commerce mobile app in South Africa notices that 40% of users who download the app make one purchase in the first week, but never open the app again. The mobile marketer needs to design a 7-day push campaign that triggers on day 7 of inactivity to bring them back.
The Brief
Design a 7-day automated push notification flow. Write the actual copy, select trigger timings, set target screens (deep-linking rules), and define control groups for testing.
Deliverables
- The flow schedule (days and times) and segment specifications (e.g., users inactive for 7-14 days with historical purchase)
- Copy for 4 push notifications (Title, Body, Emoji) optimized for lock screen readability
- The deep-link mapping for each push notification (where in the app the user lands when they tap)
- The experiment design: how you would measure lift against a holdout control group
Submission Guidance
Push notifications are highly intrusive. Too many will lead to app uninstalls. Keep the copy short (under 90 characters), hyper-personalized, and value-focused.
